If you’re looking for fall color near Las Vegas, one surprising spot is the Calico Basin in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. If you time it right, not only will you find vibrant trees in their autumn attire, you’ll also find colorful rocks.
When walking along the Calico Basin boardwalk on November 8, 2025, professional photographer Cindy van der Velde admired the different stages of autumn color along the way.

“Some of the trees have already transitioned completely, while others are still in the process of turning,” Cindy says. “About 25% of the foliage is done, but there’s still around 75% showing beautiful yellow-green tones, which means the area should continue to look gorgeous for at least the next two weeks.”
