Southern Nevada photographer Cindy Van Der Velde went in search of spring wildflowers near Las Vegas and found plenty of color in the higher elevations of Red Rock Canyon during the third week of April.
She found that at the lower elevations, most of the wildflowers are already fading. But higher up, there are still lots of blooms—and more getting ready to open.
“I’d say visitors can expect to see good wildflower activity at higher elevations for at least another couple of weeks,” Cindy estimates. “It’s not a California-style superbloom, but there’s still some really pretty color out there.”
